Operation North Pole 2019 Travels Through Barrington, Illinois to Benefit Let It Be Us – December 14, 12:30pm
December 14, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 12:45 pm
All aboard the Operation North Pole Express! For the last eight years, the incredible staff and volunteers of Operation North Pole (ONP) have helped spread the spirit of the holidays to children and families affected by illness, and Christmas 2019 looks to be nothing less than spectacular. On Saturday, December 14, the Operation North Pole Express travels through Barrington, Illinois spreading the holiday spirit to children and families affected by serious terminal illnesses and also to benefit children in foster care and those awaiting adoption. The public and children of all ages are welcome!
This year, Operation North Pole is paying it forward by partnering with Barrington-based charity, Let it Be Us, the premier foster and adoptive parent recruitment agency in Illinois. All attendees are asked to bring their donations of socks, underwear, pajamas, warm coats, hats, gloves, nonperishable snacks, gift cards, or cash donations to the Barrington Train Station on December 14th for collection.
All community members are invited to pack each train station platform along the train’s route, especially at the Barrington Train Station. At exactly 12:44 p.m., the special ONP Metra train will be rolling through the Barrington station with an overhead drone and media coverage on the ground to capture all of the magic and cheering crowds.
Upon arrival at the North Pole, Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with an incredible crew of local firefighters and police officers, will welcome the families to the Winter Wonderland setting of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont for an afternoon filled with dancing, food, candy, music, games and presents. Participating in this event will guarantee you a spot on Santa’s “GOOD LIST” and warm you up from the inside out!
Operation North Pole (ONP) is a volunteer-based public charity. ONP works with major children’s hospitals, providing a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child battling a life threatening illness by hosting a fantasy trip to the North Pole.
Let It Be Us is a nonprofit that is changing the landscape of foster care and adoption in Illinois through supporting the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and all partner Illinois agencies.
