- Adoptive Parent Education , Foster Parent Recruitment
- April 18, 2018
Children of all ages are coming into Illinois foster care every single day with literally nothing except the clothes on their backs. These children wait with their new caseworkers while a placement for them is found, which often takes an extremely long time since there is a shortage of foster parents. These children become hungry, little diapers get wet, they are scared, as they have been through trauma. While these children are in safe hands with their new caseworkers their urgent needs must be met.
Let It Be Us has developed a unique solution to meet the urgent needs of these children newly coming into Illinois foster care, and it’s named “Our Closet.” Filled with baby formula, diapers, pacifiers, onesies, and swaddling blankets as well as healthy snacks, crayons, activity pads, and sweats for older children, “OurCloset“ is available to caseworkers as they care for children in their offices while they wait for a placement in foster care. “Our Closet“ is an extension of Project Dignity which creates customized duffle bags containing critical school and personal supplies for children entering and moving throughout Illinois foster care.
