Learn About Specialized Foster Care with Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley

December 3 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Curious About Foster Care? Come Learn With Us!

Have you ever thought about becoming a foster parent but weren’t sure where to begin? Or wondered if your experience, career, or life skills could make a difference for a child?

Join Let It Be Us and Youth Service Bureau (YSB) for a relaxed, welcoming hybrid event – in person in Ottawa, Illinois, or online via Zoom Webinar – where you can learn about traditional and specialized foster care, ask questions, and explore what becoming a foster parent might look like for you and your family. If you live in LaSalle, Streator, Utica, Peru, or surrounding areas, you are encouraged to join us.

No pressure. No commitments. Just information, conversation, and the opportunity to learn.

Specialized foster parents provide care for children who may need additional support and understanding. Youth Service Bureau provides extensive wraparound support, resources, and guidance to help foster parents feel confident and supported throughout their fostering journey. Specialized foster parents also receive additional financial support.

We are especially interested in connecting with individuals who have experience in:

  • Education and teaching

  • Educational support services

  • Medical and healthcare

  • Mental health

  • Emergency response

  • Parenting and caregiving

  • Working with children or individuals with special needs

Already licensed? Thinking about becoming a licensed foster parent? Or simply curious about what foster care looks like? You are welcome! Whether you’re just beginning to explore foster care or have been thinking about it for a while, come learn, ask questions, and discover whether traditional or specialized foster care could be the right fit for you.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to learn more.

Every child deserves a safe place to call home and an adult who is willing to show up for them. Sometimes the first step toward making a difference is simply showing up and learning more.

Come as you are, bring your questions, and let’s start the conversation!
