Position Summary

This position is hybrid with required in-person meetings in the Northern Region and/or Chicago. 

The Adoption Recruitment Support Specialist plays an important role in supporting the Let It Be Us Adoption Program by identifying, recruiting, engaging, and registering Illinois licensed foster and adoptive families.

The Specialist also works closely with caseworkers from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Illinois child welfare agencies to support the registration of children and youth who have a permanency goal of Adoption or Substitute Care Pending Termination of Parental Rights (TPR).

This position requires strong communication, organization, customer service, and technology skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across all Let It Be Us programs and with external child welfare partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate recruitment activities, including virtual webinars and selected in-person recruitment events.
• Engage and communicate with prospective and newly recruited licensed foster and adoptive families and assist them with completing registration in the Let It Be Us Adoption Program.
• Maintain accurate and current information within the Let It Be Us proprietary database of licensed foster and adoptive homes.
• Work closely with DCFS and Illinois child welfare agency caseworkers to support the registration of children and youth eligible for adoption recruitment services.
• Provide responsive, professional customer service to families, caseworkers, agency partners, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with DCFS, Illinois child welfare agencies, and community partners.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to recruitment, registration, and program activities.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation and data entry across required technology platforms.
• Collaborate with Let It Be Us program teams to support coordinated recruitment, matching, and permanency efforts.
• Help foster a culture of transparency, communication, accountability, collaboration, and excellent customer service.
• Participate in special projects and other program initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Required: Minimum of one year of professional experience in foster care and/or adoption within the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services or an Illinois Licensed Child Welfare Agency.
• Required: Knowledge of the Illinois foster care and adoption system.
• Preferred: Bilingual skills preferred, not required.
