Let It Be Us is determined to help children in foster care who are waiting for a stable home. We are proud to do that by transforming child welfare with the help of passionate people, experienced in how child welfare works today but with a bold new vision of how child welfare could look tomorrow.

We are located in the Northern Region of Illinois and while we serve the Entire State of Illinois we primarily work in the Northern Region and Chicago.  Our work model is hybrid with in-office and remote time.

Specifics About the Position : 

  • This is a part-time contractor position
  • 20 hours per week 
  • Hybrid in-person/remote working location 
  • In person meetings in Barrington, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois 

 

Summary of the Foster Care Placement Recruiter Position 

The position is designed to play a role in the day to day operations of matching and placement for youth in emergent need and those who are challenging to place. Specific duties are as follows:

 

Duties

  • Operate our unique and proprietary recruitment search tools for which you will be trained
  • Manage intake of cases in need of matching and placement 
  • Collaborate with DCFS and private agencies regarding cases 
  • Continual review of program operations 
  • Establish relationships with agency workers regarding cases to establish outcomes
  • Measure, record, and report on placement outcomes 
  • Continue to establish measurement tools for program outcomes and create monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Create and embrace a culture of transparency, communication and positive relationships throughout Let It Be Us with all staff 
  • Ensure commitment and compliance with all requirements of the Let It Be Us Child Welfare License. 
  • Create and embrace a culture of transparency and oversight in our work
  • Create and embrace a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Create and embrace a collaborative, collegial, respectful and professional work culture
  • Create and embrace a culture where we, primarily, work remotely yet work together, gathering regularly

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of the Program 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Recruitment experience either within child welfare or within another field
  • At least 2 years of experience with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services or a child welfare agency preferred but not required
  • Lived experience within foster care is recognized and may replace educational requirements 
  • Experience as a foster parent is recognized and may replace educational requirements
  • Passion for helping children in foster care 
  • Passion for working in a nonprofit environment 

 

Skills

  • Deep understanding of recruitment
  • Deep understanding of matching and placement 
  • Ongoing understanding of Illinois child welfare, Illinois foster care, Illinois foster care adoption
  • Strong aptitude for verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship development
  • Strong aptitude for collaboration among staff, stakeholders, partners and those we serve
  • Excellent customer service skills that require prompt communication via phone and email

 

Ongoing Professional Development

  • This position requires professional development at the agency’s expense to maintain state of the art best practices and any licensing requirements
