Navigating Adoption: Microaggressions and Identity Challenges in Adoption with Dr. Amanda Baden and Let It Be Us
May 18 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Let It Be Us offers a series of virtual and in-person educational events on topics surrounding Foster Care and Adoption in the State of Illinois.
Join Let It Be Us for an insightful session with Amanda L. Baden, Ph.D., a leading voice in adoption research, as she explores how adoptees develop identity across adoption, race, and culture. This presentation will examine how stigma can shape adoptee experiences through adoption microaggressions – subtle but impactful forms of bias – and how these dynamics appear in everyday interactions. Attendees will gain the skills to recognize and respond to these experiences, while also learning about reculturation, the process through which adoptees reconnect with their birth culture. Through practical frameworks and real-world application, participants will deepen their understanding of how to support adoptees in building identity, connection, and belonging.
