Let It Be Us is partnering with Northwestern University regarding special needs foster care, creating a survey for licensed foster parents and unlicensed prospective foster parents.
. We’ve developed a survey for both licensed foster parents and unlicensed prospective foster parents interested in caring for children with special needs – if that sounds like you, please take this short survey, it shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes!
Through significant multi-year seed funding by the Foglia Family Foundation, Let It Be Us is launching the Special Families program to focus on recruiting foster homes for children in care with specialized needs as well as ensuring children with special needs in foster care are matched with the right placement so they can thrive. This program focuses on children and families experiencing Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, medically complex specialties, behaviorally complex specialties, and others.
To ensure a robust and impactful program, Let It Be Us is partnering with Northwestern University’s Family Care Parenting Lab to truly understand the challenges of fostering children with special needs so that we can develop a program that overcomes those challenges, whether to take a child into a home or to keep a child.
We are proud to be the only organization in Illinois devoted to supporting and filling the gaps left in the child welfare system with the goal of ensuring every child is placed in a loving, supportive home until they can be reunified with their biological families or adopted. We believe every single child deserves a family and our goal is to do our part so they have one.
